Uninstall Microsoft Office from your PC

The following steps outline how Office products can be uninstalled on a PC

Uninstall your Office for your form of installation

The Office uninstall steps depend on the type of installation you have. The most common types of installations are Microsoft Windows Installer (MSI) and Click-to-Run. The other form is a Microsoft store app-office install.

Select the following tab Click-to-Run or MSI or Microsoft Shop, and follow these steps for your form of installation to uninstall.

Open an Office app to test your kind of installation

Note: If you can not open an app to test your installation form, first try the most basic steps of uninstalling the Click-to-Run or MSI.

Creating or opening an existing file, and selecting File > Account (or Office Account). 

Find the About button under Product details, and search for the following:

Click-to-Run

Click-to-Run installations have a Version and Build number, including the Click-to-Run phrase. 

Follow the steps below to Click-to-Run or to MSI.

MSI

There is no Version or Build number in an MSI installation. 

Follow the steps below to Click-to-Run or to MSI.

Microsoft Store

Installations in Microsoft Store have a version and build number and include the Microsoft Store word. 

Select the Microsoft Store tab, if you have this sort of installation.

Click-to-run or MSI

If you have a Click-to-Run or MSI installation, uninstall Office using the Control Panel or download the support tool for uninstalling.

Option 1-Control Panel uninstall office

1. Open the Microsoft office control panel.

2. To complete the uninstall follow the prompts.

Option 2-Uninstall Office completely with the Uninstall Support Tool

1. Click the Download button and install the Office support uninstall tool.

2. Follow the steps below to download your browser-based Uninstall Support Tool.

Edge or Chrome

Right-click SetupProd_OffScrub.exe > Open in lower-left corner.

Edge (older) or Internet Explorer

Select Run to start the SetupProd_OffScrub.exe, at the bottom of the browser window.

Firefox

1. In the pop-up window, select Save File and then select the download arrow > SetupProd_OffScrub.exe from the upper-right browser window.

3. Pick the edition you want to uninstall, then choose Next. 

4. Follow the remaining screens, and restart your computer when prompted. 

5. After restarting your computer, the uninstall tool will automatically re-open to complete the final uninstall process step. Follow the prompts left over.

Microsoft Store

Uninstall Office from Windows 10 Settings 

1. Select Start >Start menu > Apps setup button. 

2. Select the Office version you want to uninstall under Apps & Features.

3. Select uninstall.

Download Microsoft 365 or Office 2019 to your PC or Mac

3. Follow the steps that match the type of account you have signed in with after signing in.

Install on a Mac

1. Go to www.office.com and select Sign-In if you're not already signed in.

4. To complete the installation of your Office software, follow the instructions below.

Download Microsoft Office

Microsoft Office setup 365 Business subscription and Security plans allow you to install Office apps on up to five computers on a single subscription and access mobile apps.

You will need to build your Office 365 email address before you install the Office software. If your computer has an older version of Microsoft Office setup, uninstall it before downloading the new version. 1. Sign in to your Email.

2. Pick Microsoft Office setup update, which opens your Microsoft Office 365 account. You can be asked to sign in using your email address and password in Microsoft Office 365.

3. Pick setup to Install Microsoft Office. The installation file starts downloading. Click Save if asked. You can be asked to pick your desired language and version of Microsoft Office before installation can commence.

4. When downloaded, open the file and follow the instruction to complete the installation of Microsoft office software.

5. You will need to sign in using your Microsoft Office 365 email address and password when you open your new office software.
